Financial Support

The Department provides an Assistantship to all first year students. This includes a current annual stipend of $25,000 in addition to health insurance coverage and a full tuition scholarship.  The stipend is increased to $26,000 when students pass their qualifying exam. Support for subsequent years is provided by your primary lab. Students are also encouraged to apply for scholarships, grants, and other extramural funding opportunities for enhanced career development.

Applicants are also considered for the prestigious Presidential graduate fellowships, which offer an additional stipend of $6,000 per year for the first four years of graduate school, as well as additional financial support for travel to scientific meetings and conferences.
