Roswell Park Cancer Institute (RPCI), America’s first cancer center founded in 1898, is a 116 bed National Cancer Institute designated National Comprehensive Cancer Center (NCCN) serving the greater Western New York area. The institution provides patient care to 110+ inpatient beds and has 26,000+ patients under current active care with over 185,000 outpatient visits per year. RPCI is a well-known for the strengths of its clinical staff, translational research and multidisciplinary oncology teams.

Currently the institution has an academic affiliation with The State University of New York at Buffalo. Approximately 60% of RPCI's 25-acre campus has undergone major renovation or has been newly built since 1998. A new Center for Genetics and Pharmacology opened in the spring 2006 along side the newly constructed New York State Center of Excellence in Bioinformatics and Life Sciences. In addition, a new satellite infusion center located in Amherst, NY started to accept patients in the fall of 2006 and a new phase I unit opened in 2008.

RPCI has been ranked among the 50 best cancer hospitals in U.S. News & World Report’s “2010-11 Best Hospitals” and was featured in the August issue.
